Headless Horseman Costume
A very different costume you could wear this Halloween is the Headless Horseman costume, a rather frightening ghostly figure without a head.
So if you want to ride through the night as this ghostly apparition then why not try the Headless Horseman child costume shown here on the left. It includes a glassy black shirt, attached vest, cape and inflatable shoulders and a decapitated looking headpiece. Definitely a gruesome sight to behold!
There’s also the horrifically gross Headless Man costume shown here on the right, a two piece costume consisting of a 
long black robe with a cut out for your own head and a shoulder harness with a fake neck piece. To complete the look add a fake horror knife and fake blood.
It’s not only the kids and adults that get to dress up this Halloween. If you have a reasonable size dog, then he can join in the fun too. The headless horseman has appeared throughout history and many countries have their own versions of the legend. One of the most famous is the fictional character created by Washington Irving in his short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow published in 1820. The legend of the Headless Horseman begins in Sleepy Hollow where a brutal and sadistic horseman of the 548 Hessians was killed in battle during the American Revolutionary war. He was killed when his head was severed by a cannonball. He was buried in a graveyard and soon thereafter appeared as a ghost with his severed head resting upon the pommel of his saddle. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was made into a movie Sleepy Hollow in 1999 starring Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of brutal slayings where the victims have been beheaded.
I think the Headless Horseman Costume is a really scary costume and definitely one to consider for Halloween.
